Not much! I think I am going to become mad sitting at home coz I cant go out in this hot weather. And so all the time I jus keep wondering how it wud have been nice if we had just been in Seoul.

We finally gave the vaccine shots for Iniya. Here in kuwait, we have to get the vaccines in the Govt hospitals. They are free. They just stick to their schedule. If we have any other vaccines on our list, we will have to go to the private hospitals. Wich is almost 10-15 times coztlier I would say. Why so? Coz in the govt. hospitals, you will have to pay just 1 KD(Kuwaiti Dinar) for anything, be it a small fever to a big surgery. normal delivery or C-section. The same healthcare is free for Kuwaitis. Ofcoz all this is possible if we pay for the Kuwait health insurance which is also not much.

Anyways the only problem I find here is that people are not very courteous or pleasing enough. I dont want to say more.

Iniya has been growing tremendously at a fast pace. Wow! Its just so nice to see that! The only problem sitting in my head is how to potty train her with the whole house carpetted. Have to browse more.

After so much waiting, I gave fish to Iniya and she loved it. I dont eat fish and so I dont know how to buy fish. There are a certain variety of fish that I wanted to give her and I did not know how to find them in Seoul. but here, its easy to find them coz people know the indian name of the fish too!

I made Sear fish fry(Vanjiram meen in Tamil). But for iniya I jus gave Steamed fish.
Here is the recipe for Sear fish fry:

Sear fish pieces
Garlic paste
Red Chilly powder
black pepper powder
Turmeric powder
salt to taste
lemon juice

Method:

mix all the ingredients to make a paste ( except fish). Use the lemon juice to make paste. no water should be added. Now coat the fish with this paste marinate for 30 mins.
Take a flat pan, pour 2-3 tspns of oil, and fry the fish each side for 2mins or until cooked.

Thats it!! This is a very tasty fish. It has only the middle bone so its easy to eat it without fishing for small bones.
The last time I ate fish was when I was in my 2nd grade. After that I ate fish now! It was yummy!

Will post soon!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qvF8CngiByM/TlN21nWyTpI/AAAAAAAALBU/Y14XCDXeSB4/s320/IMG_5414.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643985421495062162" />

In Kuwait

So after a long waiting time of 3 months I landed in Kuwait with Iniya. God, I just hate being separated from Arul. All I want is to just be near him whatever happens. But these visa procedures are forcing us to stay separate fr some days. I told Arul I dont want this to happen again. But he said that if we have to move to some place else we will have to go through it. Huhhh...

Anywayz we have kinda settled down here.Before we came Arul had rented the house and bought furnitures and other house stuff. So it was kinda easy fr me. But poor Arul he must have had a tough time going around in this hot place to set up the house.

Kuwait is so damn hot. Ofcoz coz its a desert. As of now all I can say is the place has everything that you need to cook Indian stuff, coz that was the main problem when we were in Korea. There are many malls around. And transportaion is the main problem for us as we have to get the driving license yet. His company's rul changed this year saying that they will give the letter to be submitted fr DL only after 1 year. So we have to use taxis which are not so easy like in Korea. We cant walk anywhere coz of the hot sun. So if a taxi has to come near your doorstep they charge more.

I will have to wait till October to take a walk outside. All in all, Arul knows I am not quite happy with the place. But we do have good savings here. And Arul likes the workplace. But I have told him that we will have to try to relocate somewhereelse after 2-3 years. Lets see what happens.

Iniya is going to be 17 months now and she is growing up so fast! She understands most of what we say and its amazing! I just cant believe the baby that small has grown up in front of my eyes yet she looks like the same Iniya on day 1.

I just feel I dont know hwo to handle her and her tantrums most of the time.
Now a days she asks me to play with her all the time and am finding it difficult. So I am looking around for daycares so that she can start socialising. She likes kids bigger than her and tries to call them. So I hope I am able to find a place for her.

And now a days I seem to be cooking daily in a proper schedule more because the internet here is not so fast as in Korea and so it is taxing to browse.

The best thing about coming here is that Arul comes home at 3.30 PM everyday like clockwork!!!!! I love it. In Korea he used to leave home at 6 30 and come home by 7 30PM. If he had more work sometimes 10PM. Here he leaves at 6 40AM. So Arul has a lot of time to play with Iniya. I dont know when I can get some time alone with Arul.

Was in a hurry typing the post coz I have to do it before iniya wakes up from her nap. I will try to make a post sooner!

Moving!!!

I know that I have not been writing any posts for a long time now. Iniya is just not allowing me to sit with the laptop for a long time. She is 11 months 3 weeks old now! And her latest activity is learning to jump!

I wanted to post today coz I would like to share the news that we are moving to India in 2 days! And then may be after 2-3 months to another country after we get the visa processed! My husband has got a job there and the reasons we are moving are not much! More earnings and English schooling for Iniya. In Korea, the international schools are not affordable, and the local schools only teach in Korean.

I think I will be missing Korea a lot! I have not gone to many places in Korea and I think I should atleast try to explore the next country we are going to. And also try to blog more. May be I should take an oath or something to do that!

Well, I wish all my blog friends All the best for their future endeavors! And I hope we can stay in touch through the blog and grow! But I do keep reading my friend's blogs. I always hope that I should keep writing frequently, but still...

Iniya is now 6 months old, and there have been so many developments! Its amazing to see her grow. At times, I just cant believe that she was the same tiny lil bean that I saw on the U/S screen when I was like 6 weeks pregnant!

Iniya has started eating solids. These are the foods that she enjoys (kinda):
1. Rice Cereal
2. Wheat cereal
3. Carrot
4. Potato
5. Pumpkin
6. Banana
7. Apple

She eats some 1/4th of the soft rice cracker that I got from E-mart. It is so nice to see her eating it by herself.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/TGiug3TPAuI/AAAAAAAAKxE/vx_MtkzlOyk/s400/IMG_3711.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505842424084103906" />

I will be introducing Lentils when she starts her 7th month. It is supposed to meet the protein needs. Also it is a major part of our daily food.
I will have to try the soup that my doc in India had suggested. Presuure cook a small pices of carrot, potato, beetroot along with 1 cumin seed, 1 black pepper ball along with water. Remove the cumin and pepper seed and then make it into soup. I will have to try this.

Iniya has started crawling and she does so many stunts. Most of the time I leave her on the playmat and she is happy to play alone with some toys. A few weeks back she was demanding that I should sit with her 24/7. But now she even allows me to cook and she watches me as she plays. She is licking whatever comes within a few inches of her mouth. And all that biting and pulling with teeth.
She is also learning to drink from her sippy. I had got the Nuby soft spout sippy for her. She just takes a few sips and then starts biting the spout and pulling it. When I say No, she smiles at me and does it again. And expects me to say No to her. She crawls all over the mat, but once she comes out of the mat to the wooden floor, she stops after a few crawls. Its slippery for her. Her motivation to crawl is to touch the table legs, chair legs etc and lick them.
She is able to pass toys from one hand to another which she has been doing for a month now. She has started to cry when we try to take away the toy that she is holding AND LICKING. If not licking, then no cries.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/TGix7jz5J9I/AAAAAAAAKxU/LlKzANI1npw/s320/IMG_3718.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505846181243725778" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/TGix7C__dRI/AAAAAAAAKxM/Q2LizhvhsfA/s320/IMG_3717.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505846172436100370" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/TGiye_HhZiI/AAAAAAAAKxk/xe5s9hK1i7Y/s320/IMG_3732.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505846789869233698" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/TGiyedCG39I/AAAAAAAAKxc/SPtixwzJZfs/s320/IMG_3722.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505846780719718354" />

One major happening activity now is Potty training! Yayyyyy! It is kinda potty training. In India, very few use diaper and most of them are just with panties or bare. Yeah, they have panties for 1 month old babies! Cute lil ones. They keep wiping the pees and poops off the floor, and washing the bums. I was a bit scared to do all those coz I became hooked to the diapers from her birth. But there are a few babies and their moms who have been a big motivation for me.
My friend S's baby was like 8 months old when I saw her, and she never wore diapers in the house. And after a while, when she was like 1.2 yrs old, she was able to say that she was peeing wheile she peed in her diaper when we were in the park. It was amazing.
I have been reading Mama Seoul's blog for quite some time now. When I saw her post about EC, and her daughter Eva's pic , I thought, Why not?
From Iniya's birth, I have been associating the grunting sound whenever she poops. Whether she makes that sound or not, I do. Slowly by 4 months, she became aware of it. Her general potty time is 6 AM as soon as he gets up. If she had not pooped, I would put her on the mat, and make the grunting sound, and she would poop. I was doing this only whenver she had not pooped on her own. MOst of the days she would have ppop in her diaper coz I useually get up only after she gets up. cleaning all the poop off her bum was a tedious job, and she also lost her patience to be still. So I got an idea. I bought an infant toilet insert. And veer since then, I watch her closely for any signs that she does for pooping, and then I run with her to the toilet. Cool thing is she also waits till I put her on the toilet.
I am also doing this for peeing. big problem here is she pees every 30 mins or 1 hr. And am not able to figure it out properly still. First few days, I put her on the toilet, and opend the water. She peed. Then I just staretd making the 'Shhhh' sound and she now pees for that. If she doesnt get pee, she cries, so I take her off.
I have misssed a lot os peees and have ended up wiping the floor and washing her. But still I find using the EC kinda amazing. It gives me a sense of accomplishment :-)

Its ben a very long post already. And Iniya has woken up from sleep. I shall be back soon hopefully!

@ my home in Chennai...

Taken a month back..

6 weeks today!

Yay! Iniya is 6 weeks old! She is growing up fast and she knows what she wants!! And she wants me to talk to her the whole time she is awake! And boy am I having a very difficult time getting her to sleep. Making her sleep in her crib has been a total failure. Every night I think that I should persist in putting her down in her crib. But by the time she sleep I get so tired that I don't want to wake her up by keeping her down!
She is now sleeping in the hammock that we borrowed from our friend who lives here. Their baby can no longer use it! So much thanks to them, she sleeps in it well. But still I don't think she can sleep in it when she grows. So I want her to sleep in the crib. How do I do the magic?? She just cant tolerate the flat surface of the bed or the crib. However tired or sleepy, she wakes up :-(
I had my 6 week check up and doc told everything is fine. And gave the go ahead for exercising. I just don't know how I am going to reduce my weight. I just don't feel like looking at myself. now I like the way I looked when I was pregnant :-D
I don't have the hope that my stomach will be what it used to be :-( I am not bothered about the stretch marks, but the belly! How will I be able to manage my time with her and do the exercise plus the house chores ??!$#@#!!!
Well, I guess I will have to be really efficient enough in planning my daily activities.

Here are some pics of Iniya!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/S6c2fpEUoCI/AAAAAAAAKjc/ZrvvNHY0lVw/s400/IMG_1816.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451385791183101986" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 322px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/S6c3NNvB4xI/AAAAAAAAKjk/K4RJgTZf5Q0/s400/Capture.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451386574120018706" />

Iniya!!

Yes! Yayyy!!! We had been content with this studio apt all this time... And it will be okay even if the baby arrives! just we wont have any place to store baby stuff :-)
My sis-in-law will be coming on Feb 14th, and so we had been asking my hubby's company to provide us with a 2 bedroom apartment. And we had been asking for it from November! And finally we got it!!!
Needless to say we would have struggled a lot here in this studio without any privacy. The bedroom is something with the sliding doors and so small, and there wouldn't be any privacy for anybody!!
I was really worried how things will go after delivery. Obviously I would have found it very difficult with one extra adult in this tiny apt!! And of course she would have too..!
Now that we have got the 2 BHK, I am really happy and relieved!!!
We started packing things yesterday and we were amazed to see how we had so much things with us.. and there is yet more to pack!
We will be moving to Acro Tower tomorrow evening. We have asked the Biz center people to give phone and internet connection by Friday so that we will not be stuck there for 2 days without those essentials.
I have not yet seen the house. But there is nothing to see I feel. They provide us the housing, and by luck, this room got vacant. If we don't take it, then we will have to be here.
House is on the 27th Floor!! I have never been in that high a place :-)
They have given access cards without which we cannot enter the residential part of the building! I hope we keep the card safely and not lose it :-)

I am planning to go see the place. Its just 1 KM from here. But I think the whole building will be a puzzle. Thee are 2 towers and I do not know which is A and which one is B! And I do not know where the secure door is present.
May be I will get lost there. It reminds me of the time when I joined as an Engineer Trainee in Infosys Mysore. On the first day, we had to go to our resp. classes in the GEC building. It was circular building and most of us got lost in confusion!!!

I hope I find the way. And hopefully I will take pictures. All to be done, if weather permits and if it isn't too windy.

37weeks 4 days Pic!

Took this pic some time after I got up. After a week or so, I had a good night's sleep yesterday.
Our general routine is to go to sleep at 10 PM and my dear hubby would read the book "What to Expect" for 30 mins and then he will fall asleep(obviously). But I will be tossing and turning and be awake till 2 or 3 AM (yup!). All because of the big belly. I am just not able to achieve a good position to follow everyday which will put me to sleep. So yes, I sleep at 3 and rise and shine( if only I could) at 9 30 or 10 AM.
I guess due to all the tiredness which got piling up over the days, I feel asleep yesterday by 11 PM. And got up at 9 30!!!!!! Yay!!!

But today I am feeling drowsy all through the day..!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 206px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/S1e6ZgzPp5I/AAAAAAAAJkk/VA6mJL9c2Kg/s400/Capture.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429012823282788242" />

18 days to go!!

I had my 37w2d appointment yesterday with the doc. It was a really short visit. I am 85.4kg now and last week baby weighed 3.2kg. Baby hasn't dropped yet. Doc said that sometimes for the first pregnancy, baby doesn't drop until labor. He just told once again that baby is large.

I don't understand how the baby moves to the left or right side of my belly! All the days, she was on my left and giving me very hard kicks near my right rib. Just yesterday when I got up, I noticed that she had moved to the right side. And she definitely just wants to be in a totally stretched position, coz my belly was totally bulging a lot on the right.

I thought, may be because I was sleeping on both sides, she somehow managed to come to the right. I wanted her to be on the left. So somehow I managed to sleep for a longer time on the left side. Guess what! Today she is on my left and kicking me harder than ever!

Next appointment is on 26 Jan. Will be having an ultrasound. Cant wait to go see her again!

Snow! Cant wait for the d-day!

Yesterday I had some slight fever and cold and so had to goto the hospital. They did the test for swine flu and gave me some tylenol. Today the test result came back negative!!
Also had the appointment with my OBGYN today. Baby is looking fine and the ultrasound tech showed some hair on the baby's head :-D Dont know how much hair though! My mom told me that I had so much hair when I was born, that it covered my eyes! Lemme see what the kiddo has!

I had increased 1.25kg in the last 2 weeks and out of that, baby's share is 1 kg!!! She weighs 2.6kg now! As per Indian standards, she may be a heavy baby(Avg. Indian newborn weight is 2.8kg). I donot know about Korean standards, but my doc said that the baby is slightly large. As long as the baby is healthy, I am okay with it.

Baby's position is also good.

Hopefully I should have a natural delivery even if the baby weighs more. Garlic - 1 pod finely chopped
7. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tspn
8. Sambar powder - 1-2 spn
9. Dry mango powder - 1-2 pinches
10. Thin Coconut milk - 1 cup ( I prepare it using Maggi Coconut powder)
11. Salt- to taste
12. Take oil in pan and when hot add Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamom, dried red chilli and cumin seeds.

2. When they splutter, add onion,garlic, turmeric powder and saute till the onion becomes brown.

3. Add tomatoes and saute till they become soft and mushy. Gently mash them so that they wil get cooked.

4. Add sambar powder, dry mango powder, salt and mix well.

5. Add the coconut milk and mix.

6. Cover with a lid and let it come to a boil on a low flame.

7. Now open the lid and boil till it becomes a thick liquid.

8. Keep on low flame again and break an egg into the gravy and stir so that it gets dispersed in the liquid.

9. From now on stop stirring and break the remaining eggs one by one into the gravy at different spots so that they form small omlettes.

10. Now cover with a lid and cook on low flame till the egg gets cooked.

11. Now my body seems to happily add on the pounds everyday!

I reduced around 8 kg by doing aerobics for 8 months before my marriage which placed me at 61Kg. After marriage I successfully spoiled my past effort by putting on 5Kg after coming to Seoul. As on date, I am 80 Kg. Yup! 14 Kg increase after becoming pregnant!!

61Kg:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/SxOXKjGwIfI/AAAAAAAAJYc/gFFofG2oW94/s400/124654.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409833784880144882" />

80Kg :-( :
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/SxOXK_BCDOI/AAAAAAAAJYk/YabW0xATTvE/s400/181208.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409833792372346082" />

I am really worried how much I am going to increase in the 2 months left. I am wondering if the doctors will say that there may be some risk if I exceed 90 kg or whatever. Me and my husband are very much looking forward to having a normal delivery. But now I have to eat them atleast for the sake of the baby!

Here's how to make it:

Ingredients:

Onion - 1 or 2 Big as per choice ( Chopped )

Garlic - 2 pods ( 1 for dal, and 1 chopped)

Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
Amaranthus Tritis ( or any spinach) - 1 bundle

Powder of cumin seeds and pepper - 1 spoon

To temper:
Oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves ( split black gram ) - lil of each
Dried Red Chillies - 2 or 3

Method:

1. Boil toor dal along with 1 garlic , 2 -3 pinches or turmeric powder, 1 pinch of Asafoetida in a pressure cooker. Mash into a paste. Then add some water to get a batter like consistency and set aside.

2. Chop them small and wash them to remove sand and set aside.

3. Take a pan, pour 2 small spoons of oil, and when it gets hot, add the mustard seed.

4. When the mustard seeds crackle, put the dried red chillies, urad dal and curry leaves, and wait til tey turn slightly brown.

5. Now put the chopped garlic and saute til it gets cooked ( less than a minute.

6. Put the chopped onions and saute till it becomes translucent and startes turning brown.

7. Put the chopped green leaves, and keep sauteing till they get cooked. Some greens make give out water while cooking. So keep sauteing til the water evaporates ( by choice). Do not cover so that some toxins can escape.

8. Now throw in some cumin-pepper powder, and saute for a min.

9. Pour the batter like dal mixture prepared earlier into the pan, mix well. Add salt to taste and bring to boil.

10. Serve with hot rice!!!

Amaranthus Tritis
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OjkU5na5nSg/SqHt3yW-DzI/AAAAAAAAJFs/96ngYdr2yWA/s400/arai.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377840972723785522" />

I am getting a green variety which is close to this in Seoul.

Completed One Year!!!!!!

Yes!!!Its our first Marriage Anniversary today!
Time has been flying by so fast! Before getting married, I was almost scared to death with the idea of gettin into the kitchen and doing the COOKing thing. I did not know how to cook, and most of all I just felt I would never enjoy it. I used to look at my mom and feel amazed as to how quickly and efficiently she makes the food. Gone are those scary days!!
After marriage, I had to start cooking for 2 reasons, one, ter's my hubby's stomach to feed, and two, what the heck! my own stomach is growling loudly for food!!!
I should say I am very much gifted coz my hubby had been cooking for 2 years coz he was always away from home due to work. And so he has mastered the art of cooking! Atleast thats the way I felt! On the first week of us both staying together after marriage, he cooked for me, and taught me things! How amazing for me to see him cook food so damn casually!!! I used to look at him with so much wonder!

Slowly and steadily now I am learning to cook, and I have already experimented with so many recipes, and everything has turened out well. The only negative being the pace at which I cook! Yeah, a bit slow I would say!
I shall soon post pics and recipes of what all I have tried!

Sleep Vs Me

      Today was yet another day when I got up at 7 15 AM and thought, "O man! Should I really make it to the gym tdy too?". Of late, this is the question with which I get up daily. My dear hubby wakes up at 6 AM and leaves to office by 6 45 while I keep sleeping. He kisses me good-bye and then a "have a nice day honey!" and off he goes. And then comes the heavenly sleep for 30 odd mins and then bang goes the alarm.
      Somehow I find it difficult to open my eyes so early!! And all the decision making of whether or not to goto the gym!
But somehow out of nowhere I pulled up all my will to get up, brush and face the new day! Yes!! I did goto gym today!
      I always wonder whether its me or does everybody feel the same about making to the gym or some chore that has to be done! When I look back, I can say I had not been steady enough making it to the gym daily! One fine day, I enrolled myself in my Office gym and then I went there for 3 months!!! And that was also not continuous. I used to skip going there some days. Suddenly I even stopped going there for 3-4 months. And then with guilt all over my mind, and blaming my laziness, again I gathered my mind and started going there.
      I wonder if this laziness has its play in everybody else around me too! Coz whenever I see people who work out, I see them everyday, happy and energetic, and I feel why dont I have the same.
      I am still trying, and I hope one day that this gymming will become a habit like brushing!

My first post!

After a long long thinking, I have decided to start writing blogs.
